Presidents Message April 2022

President’s Message for June 2022

Before coming to the next Men’s Club meeting, you will have to make a choice. Of course, you want to attend the Men’s Club meeting on the first Tuesday of the month, but first, make sure you vote; then you can make it to the Church Hall 7:00 on the 7th for our June meeting.
The Men’s Club has been very supportive of the Parish community in the last month. We have served lunch for the 4th grade Mission Run, selected an essay winner for the 6th grade class, and participated in the Parish Clean-up Day. However, our next event will be even more visible to the local community, and may require a few more hands. This will be the 225 Pancake Breakfast on Sunday morning, June 12 on the Mission Patio. Time and details will be presented at the meeting.
Outstanding member this month is Lou Zenzen for procuring and replacing the leg bracket on the tall bar table that broke right before the Vaqueros BBQ. The repair is as good as new. Thanks again, Lou.
Plan to be there, and I’ll see you at the June meeting.
-Greg

Founder’s Weekend June 10th, 11th & 12th

Founder’s Weekend June 10th, 11th & 12th
Mission San José’s Founder’s Weekend on June 10th, 11th & 12th represents the pinnacle of this jubilee year. We begin Friday evening with Franciscan Friars singing Solemn Vespers in the Mission Church on this eve of the 225th Anniversary. Saturday begins with Morning Prayers sung by local Women Religious in the Mission Church. Saturday evening Bishop Michael Barber, SJ, presides over a multi-lingual Mass at 5:30pm in the Mission Church and live streamed into St. Joseph Church.

Bring your families both Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm to enjoy food, live music & entertainment, arts & crafts, kids’ activities, beer & wine, as well as a raffle for a 1st place cash prize of $2,000. Join one of our knowledgeable Docents for a guided tour of the Mission. Shop for everything from olive oil and olive wood products to educational material, apparel, and souvenirs. See our Schedule of Events at www.mission225.org/founders-weekend-festival. Funds raised from the Founder’s Weekend Festival will be used for the preservation and restoration of Old Mission San José.

Many volunteers are still needed for Festival Greeters, Parking Assistants, and more. Sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c48aeaa2bab9-225anniversary for a 2-hours slot. And if you haven’t signed up yet to help with the Sunday Men’s Club Pancake Breakfast, contact Greg Stephens at g4stephens@comcast.net
