Experience Patagonia During Our February 7th In-Person Meeting in the Church Hall at 7pm.
The St. Joseph Men’s Club invites you to let Gary Dorighi save you the air fare and experience Patagonia with some amazing photos at this month’s meeting. We begin our adventure in Buenos Aires, considered the “Paris of South America,” and visit its historic Recoleta neighborhood. Then fly south to board ship and set sail on the famed Beagle Channel navigated by Charles Darwin in the 1830s. Hop on Zodiacs over the next few days to legendary Cape Horn. Navigate the Magdalena Channel viewing glaciers from ship as well as up-close on challenging hikes. Walk on Magdalena Island, home to a colony of more than 100,000 Magellanic penguins.
Disembark in Punta Arenas and continue across the southern Pampas to get your first glimpses of the staggering peaks of Torres del Paine National Park. Enjoy three days of hiking among the rivers, lakes, valleys, and mountains of the park while looking for herds of guanacos, rheas, and gray foxes.
Finally, time to work our way back home with a flight to Santiago, Chile to settle into a late 19th-century-style hotel nestled amid an oasis of vineyards, parks, and gardens of the Viña Santa Rita.
