President's November Message

President's October Message
Despite being late in the season, the Men’s BBQ this last Sunday was a perfect afternoon. The weather was just right as everyone enjoyed the fellowship, the information, and a grilled burger. Inspiration from Fr. Anthony, the Knight of Columbus, and our own President encouraged the group of over 80 brothers to get involved in a variety of ways. This is so important for today, and I hope our group can continue to
grow and contribute to the growth of the parish.
Our sign-up for Men’s Ministry interest sheet yielded 7 people who should plan on attending our November meeting on Tuesday, the 7 th in the Mission A/V room. This month our own Men’s Ministry member and Project Manager, Gary Dorighi, will update us on the structural improvements to the
Mission. Pizza and adult beverages will be available to those who get there at 7:00.
Also, remember to sign up for our Fall Retreat, open to all men of the Parish. For several years now, we have scheduled this for the weekend before Thanksgiving at the Franciscan Retreat House in San Juan Bautista. You can do this at the Men’s Ministry meeting, or through our website. Fun fact from Skip: the lake at St. Francis Retreat appears to be full of water again!
Finally, thank you to all who helped make the Men’s BBQ run smoothly. Your efforts were appreciated by all who were there.
I look forward to meeting new members.
Yours in Christian Brotherhood,
-Greg

The Weekly and the Parish website have provided reliable updates on the Museum Repair Project. But are you interested in some additional, fascinating details? Hear our own Men’s Ministry member and Project Manager, Gary Dorighi, describe what factors contributed to the need for this project. See renderings and photos of the engineering fix being implemented to ensure our Mission Museum, a California Registered Historic Landmark and the oldest building in Alameda County, is preserved for future generations. We will meet at the Mission Museum on Tuesday November 7th at 7:00PM. Come enjoy good food, drink, and the company of your fellow Men in the Parish.

Fr. Anthony's All Men's Meeting

Fr. Anthony’s meeting of all Saint Joseph men was held Sunday afternoon on October 29 in the Holy Family Picnic area. It was a clear and dry though blustery day. The Saint Joseph’s Men’s Ministry hosted the hamburger lunch. Over 60 men representing a spectrum of the parish attended.

Speeches were given by Fr. Anthony, representatives of the Knights of Columbus, and our own Saint Joseph’s Men’s Ministry.

Fr. Anthony proposed pulling together a team of 12 men from all aspects of the parish community to facilitate the mission of how God created us to be as men.

Fr. Anthony encouraged all men of the parish to be involved either thru the Knights of Columbus, or the Men’s Ministry.

In all, about 90 burgers were served up by our grillers.

Thank you to the following brothers who help make the day a success:

Ron Brazil, Ben Chew, David D’Silva, Gary Dorighi, Mike Gaffey, Jerome Hubacek, Louis, Lau, Tom Leen, Skip Phair, Al Rendon, Steve Radigan, Steve Skala, Ash Weerpass, and Lou Zenzen

Mission San Jose would like express our appreciation to the Men’s Ministry for recently assembling three benches for our Patio Garden. The benches are a legacy gift from the Women of St. Joseph. Steve Radigan and Gary Dorighi spent two afternoons building the benches and tested them for R&R suitability (see pics). The benches are a beautiful upgrade and will be enjoyed by visitors and school children for years to come.

Job Well done!
