President’s Message for September 2023
|
I hope everyone can enjoy the Labor Day holiday with their families. I look forward to getting together with my siblings, like we do every year, just to talk about what we have been up to, and how our families are doing. We all grow a little older, but we share the stories that keep us going.
|
If you had a particularly good holiday, perhaps you might want to share at our Tuesday night Men’s Fellowship night (optional). As shown in the St. Joseph’s Weekly, we get together in the Mission Museum A/V room at 7:00. Food and drink will be provided, and as always bring a friend or fellow parishioner along.
|
Planning for the Men’s Retreat in the fall is going well; more details and other upcoming events at the meeting.
|
So, make an entry in your calendar to be there for the September Men’s Ministry Meeting on Tuesday evening, 7:00PM in the Mission Museum A/V room (South end of the Museum Building).

St. Joseph Mission San Jose Community Gathering (South)
|
The third and final St. Joseph Parish Community Gathering was held in the Holy Family picnic area next to the Carriage House on Sunday August 27 from 12 noon to 2 PM.
|
Community gatherings for the North and Central areas of the parish were held earlier in June and July. Meals were hosted by the Knights of Columbus from a neighboring parish.
|
The Knights were not available for the August event. Our own St. Joseph's Men's Ministry stepped in to barbeque hamburgers, cheese burgers, veggie burgers, and hot dogs. Condiments and serving assistance was provided by volunteer women from the parish.
|
It was a pleasant day under the shade of the Holy Family picnic area. There was plenty of food and friendship for all who attended.
|

Annual November Retreat – Save the Date!
|
|
Save the dates of November 17th through 19th for the annual Men’s Ministry Retreat at the Saint Francis Retreat Center. Axel has recruited a wonderful priest, and he has also negotiated some great room rates. Watch for additional communications in the usual parish media. And with the likelihood of some new attendees, plan to meet and get to know these men of our parish. Learn more at the September 5th General Meeting.
