President's message for August 2023

Our August monthly meeting is designated as August Fellowship night, so this would be a good meeting to bring a friend or fellow parishioner. The leadership board insisted that this be a special meeting before the end of the summer, so we will provide the pizza and drinks. Be prepared to share something of interest to the group, or perhaps comment on what you would change.

If you are curious as to what is happening in the Catholic Church, our guest speaker is well-known for giving a thoughtful talk on today’s Catholic faith (See subsequent article below).

Make a note to yourself to be there for the Men’s Ministry meeting on Tuesday evening, 7:00PM in the Mission Museum A/V room (South end of the Museum Building).

I look forward to seeing you there, and any new guests.

Yours in Christian Brotherhood,

-Greg

Men’s Ministry Traditional Midsummer BBQ.

About a dozen guys gathered in the Holy Family Picnic Area on July 11 th for an evening of comradery along with freshly grilled burgers, chips, veggies, and beverages courtesy of the St. Joseph Men’s
Ministry. No speaker and no agenda, just food and fellowship among our hard-working members on a warm summer evening. Skip Phair bought the food and drink, while Lou Zenzen provided his grill master talents. If you missed it, make sure to come to our usual “1st Tuesday of the month” meeting on August 1st in the Mission Museum “at the top of the ramp.” All men of the Parish are invited to join in.
Side note: Many of the benches in the picnic area had a little plaque dating back to 1999 (see picture) identifying them as a donation from our St. Joseph Men. Just a reminder of how long we have been supporting the Parish!

Saint Joseph State of the Parish July 29th , 2023
Fr. Anthony, staff and the Pastoral Council shared with the Paris the goals, accomplishments of the past 12 months and gave a sneak peak of our Parish goals and plans for the rest of this year and next.

The event was held in the Mission and was also live streamed to the community. If you missed it, look for a link to it on the Parish website. After the presentation and Q&A, there was a lunch provided at the Holy Family Picnic grounds. The Men's' Ministry helped with set up and distribution of the food. A big thanks to Mike Gaffey,Greg Stephens,Tom Leen,Ben Chew, Gary Dorighi,Skip Phair and Ashley Weerpass for assisting.

It was great to enjoy the picnic area, sunshine and food, while connecting with our Parish family.
