The Mission’s annual Las Posadas tradition continued for its 42nd year commemorating the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem and providing the local community music and geniality in the days leading up to Christmas. This year the Men’s Ministry hosted the Patio Garden reception for about 50 people after Kristen Del Rio’s December 16th heartfelt performance and singalong of traditional Christmas songs and other favorites in the Mission Church. Armando Quintana organized the reception and purchased authentic Mexican hot chocolate, delightful Mexican bread, and cookies, and chips with a variety of homemade salsas for the occasion. The Mission San Jose Chamber of Commerce sponsored the reception, and event organizers Gary and Nancy Dorighi along with Skip Phair helped Armando with set up and clean up after the event. A fun coincidence we discovered in our increasingly “small world” is that Armando’s and Kristen’s families trace back to the same area near Mexico City!
