September 2026 Saint Joseph Men's Ministry Newsletter

August continued to be a busy month for our Men’s Ministry. We had a great turnout for our monthly meeting when Gary Dorighi presented pictures and video from his recent Nat Geo trip to Alaska. We provided traffic control for the monthly Our Lady of Fatima procession. We were also called on to provide traffic control and parking support for the St. Francis Jubilee Mass and Dedication of the Ohlone Memorial Garden with Bishop Barber. Thank you to the many people who helped at this event at short notice as many of us were out of town on vacation or at family gatherings.

Our last August event will be the funeral Mass for Kenny Zulawski on Saturday August 29 at 12pm. Kenny was a was a faithful member for many years and Fr. Manny will preside. I know that his family will greatly appreciate our support by attending and wearing our blue shirts.

We will have our monthly general meeting on Sep 1 and on Sep 15 will provide traffic control for the monthly Our Lady of Fatima procession. Other dates to add to your calendar are Nov 20-22 for our annual retreat at the St. Francis Retreat center, Dec 5 for our annual Christmas party. Also for our October general meeting on Oct 6, we will have a special guest speaker, so you won’t want to miss this meeting.

This year’s event will again be in the Carriage House (aka St. Joseph’s Workshop) on December 5th at 6:30pm. If you haven’t been there for an event yet, you will love this intimate venue. And I’ll turn the heat up this time😊. Details to follow, but you won’t want to miss this annually well-attended Fellowship Event!

Some thoughts from those who have attended the retreat in past years.

In addition to growing spiritually through the thought-provoking sessions, I just really enjoy spending quality time with my brothers away from daily distractions. - Gary Dorighi

I always come away from the retreat with a good feeling. Often, I never know what really to expect, what I will get out of it or wheatear I will like it. The food is always wonderful, the accommodation is acceptable and the location is outstanding. The camaraderie with the group is always something I treasure. Usually, I find that there are several messages or take aways from the different sessions or discussions that stay with me and that I find myself looking back on long after the retreat. This is the real benefit of the retreat. Getting away from the activities and routine of home allows me to pay attention to the message and discussion topics. - Tom Leen

All men in our Parish are invited to the Men's Ministry Fellowship event on 1st. September 2026 at 7:00PM in the Parish Hall. Come meet men from the Parish and learn about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.

Light food and beverages will be provided free.
