President's Message for November 2025

SJMM President's Message
We close out October with celebrating Fr. Thi’s formal installation as pastor, Halloween and the return to standard time. (Set your clocks back an hour Sunday morning Nov. 2nd.) We enter November busy with All Saints’ Day, All Souls” Day, the World Series football and Fall color. Thanksgiving and The Men’s Ministry Retreat wrap up the end of the month.

Fr. Thi’s Installation Day went well with many of the parish’s communities coming together before 8 AM to set up tables, chairs, canopies, food serving stations, music, wine and beer. Approximately 500 parishioners, visitors and guests attended the celebration.

For the SJMM’s part, we provided parking attendants, three canopies, and 240 cans of beer, and man power for some of the set up and tear down tasks.
With All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day we reflect on those who have gone before us as examples of how to serve God and those who have journeyed with us during our lifetime. Rewards earned and lessons learned.

We can carry those thoughts with us to the SJMM’s annual Retreat at the St Francis Retreat Center in San Juan Baptista, November 21 -23. The Retreat naturally leads into Thanksgiving the following week. Family and Friends.

Please remember prayers for Pete DeLisi and Axel Brisken, long time SJMM members and Board leaders who are dealing with health issues at this time.

Los Posadas December 2025

Los Posadas December 2025
The Men’s Ministry is again supporting Las Posadas this year with food and drink on the last evening of December 23rd. Contact Gary Dorighi at if you want to help. On this final night, everyone processes from the Mission Museum porch into the Old Mission Church to enjoy a program of Christmas carols performed live on our Rosales organ, followed by a piñata on the Museum porch for the children. If you’ve never attended an evening of Las Posadas, consider joining us. For 42 years, Las Posadas has been a Christmas-time tradition at Mission San Jose. It reminds us of the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem and provides the local community music and geniality each night from December 15th though December 23rd.
