President's Message for August
As we find ourselves halfway through summer, let’s make the most of these sun-filled days and memorable nights together. This month, we bid a heartfelt farewell to Fr. Anthony, who has faithfully served our Parish for the past five years. His presence and leadership have left an enduring mark on Saint Joseph MSJ, and we are deeply grateful for his dedication. We send him off with our prayers and best wishes as he embarks on new studies and future roles in our Diocese and Priestly Ministry.
With every goodbye comes a new beginning—we’re excited to welcome Fr. Thi to our Parish community. We look forward to journeying with him as he shares his vision and helps deepen our spiritual path. To help us get to know him better, we’ll be hosting a Men’s BBQ this August, where parishioners can connect with Fr. Thi and hear about his hopes and plans for our Parish—and the role of men within it.
Our August Fellowship Night will be held on Monday, August 5th at 7:00 PM in the Parish Hall. We warmly invite all men of the Parish to join us. Looking ahead, our September Fellowship Night will take place on Monday, September 2nd at 7:00 PM, featuring an engaging presentation—and possibly some hands-on exploration—of e-bikes. If you’ve been curious about them or considering a purchase, this will be a can’t-miss evening.
In September, we’ll also attend Mass together as a group—stay tuned for more details.
I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming Fellowship Nights and the many special moments we’ll share in the months ahead!

Enjoy Wine, Food and Music and Give Mission San José Museum a Facelift
Men’s Ministry members and their guests are invited to a benefit fundraiser, “Meet Me at the Mission,” hosted by Committee for Restoration of the Mission San José (CRMSJ) on September 20, 2025. This will raise the final amount needed to repair the Mission’s Museum exterior damaged adobe and mud plaster, replace leaking and weather-damaged wood sash windows, and paint the entire building. This work is now in progress and will prevent further damage while preserving the historic building for visitors to enjoy well into the future.

This year, organist Ronald McKean and the Father Narciso Durán Orchestra will be the centerpiece for our evening of wine, food, fundraising, and building community.
The Mission San José Museum is housed in the original 1809 adobe living quarters (convento), the oldest adobe building in Alameda County. The Mission is a California Registered Historical Landmark as well as listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The Committee for Restoration of the Mission San Jose (CRMSJ) is a secular non-profit formed in 1975 to raise funds and carry out the authentic reconstruction of the adobe church, which was completed in 1985. The Committee has continued for 50 years raising funds for numerous preservation projects such as seismic retrofit, and textile and fine art preservation.
Thanks to Parish fundraising, generous grants from the Committee for Restoration of the Mission San José, Fremont Bank Foundation, Valley Foundation, and individual donors; 90% of the funds have been raised to complete the project. The proceeds from the fundraiser will enable Mission San José to completely pay for the project and to continue to serve as an educational and cultural center for generations to come.
