Flores de Mayo Procession – Saturday May 18 2024

Late on a Saturday afternoon prior to the vigil Mass, the Filipino Community continued their annual tradition of processing with a large statue of the Virgin Mary.  The Saint Joseph Men’s Ministry (SJMM) provided safety and security for the procession.    Instead of processing through the neighborhood adjacent to the Parish, this year’s route went up St. Joseph Terrace, turning on Monticello Terrace and wound through the Dominican Sisters’ grounds.

Roughly 150 parishioners processed stopping at several sites to offer flowers to Mary by girls dressed in their finest.  Among the stops were the Meditation Garden and the nearly 100 year old Mater Dei Chapel open for this event.

The procession end in the St. Joseph parking lot followed by the vigil Mass and a celebratory dinner in the church hall afterwards.

Thanks to Ashley Weerpass, Tom Leen, Gary Dorighi, and Greg Stephens for supporting this event.
