Flores de Mayo celebration at our Parish

A Joyous Celebration: Flores de Mayo at our Parish on May 17th

The Flores de Mayo celebration at our parish on May 17th was a beautiful testament to faith, devotion, and community spirit. A cherished tradition in the Filipino Catholic community, Flores de Mayo—meaning “Flowers of May”—honors the Blessed Virgin Mary with floral offerings, prayers, and a heartfelt procession.

This year’s event was especially meaningful, as parishioners gathered in reverence to pay tribute to Mary through song, prayer, and dedication. The procession itself was deeply spiritual, embodying a sense of grace and devotion that echoed through the streets.

Adding to the solemnity of the occasion, four men from the SJMM provided invaluable assistance with procession safety and traffic control, ensuring that all participants could walk peacefully and prayerfully. Their service was a testament to the strength of community support and shared faith.

A highlight of the event was the participation of many teens who beautifully represented various images of the Virgin Mary, a moving reminder of how tradition is passed down to younger generations. Their reverence and poise as they carried the representations of Our Lady inspired those in attendance, symbolizing the enduring love and veneration for the Mother of Christ.

At the heart of this wonderful celebration was Fr. Anthony, our Pastor, who led the procession with wisdom and spiritual guidance. His presence reinforced the significance of the occasion and united parishioners in shared faith.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the volunteers who organized, coordinated, and provided their service to make this event a success. Their dedication and generosity ensured that this celebration remained a vibrant expression of devotion and unity.

As we reflect on the beauty of Flores de Mayo, we are reminded of the profound love and faith that bind us together as a parish and a community. May the spirit of this celebration continue to inspire us to walk in faith and devotion, honoring the Blessed Virgin in all that we do.
