Our VP for Spirituality, Dennis Dubro, recently attended the Society of Catholic Scientists conference in Washington, D.C. He will be our speaker at the August meeting where he will present the “Readers’ Digest” version of the conference, whose theme was Extraterrestrial Life and Artificial Intelligence. Some of the main topics include the likelihood of extraterrestrial life, what it means in Catholic Theology, evidence of building blocks of life in outer space, the Search for Extraterrestrial Life – SETI, evolution – the types of theories, theories on creationism, scientific innovation, and Franciscan spirituality. This was a conference of scientists. So, there were some more mundane talks, but equally interesting like earthquakes, their consequences, and the Jesuit Pioneers.
