It has been about six weeks that the Bay Area and most of the nation is in a state of social distancing and most businesses are closed. This week the governor and local officials have started to roll out plans to gradually reopen some businesses and activities. I believe it would still be some months before we will be able to get together in person for mass or parish activities.
Our club, like many others has successfully utilized a remote meeting platform to continue our meetings and fellowship events. Last month we held our first remote general meeting with the Zoom platform. Dennis Dubro led the group in a lively and fun trivia game on the “50 States of America”, more on this in another article in this newsletter.
Our General Meeting for the month of May will once again be a remote meeting utilizing the Zoom platform and will be on May 5th at 7:30 PM. This month our speaker will be our own VP of Spirituality, Dennis Dubro who will present an informative presentation on the History of the Diocese of Oakland and Mission San Jose. This should be interesting and educational; you will not want to miss it.
There were several events planned for May, however due to the shelter in place policies these have been canceled, please see the club annual calendar for updates.
We have recently created our new club website; this website will be updated often with interesting articles, news and information. There is an article in this newsletter about the new website and I encourage you to logon and peruse the site. Please give your feedback to Steve Conn.
I encourage everyone to call each other, stay in touch remotely and manage the isolation. It is critical to keep our spirits up during these times. Share with each other how you are managing and pertinent information you may have.
Stay safe and continue to pray, we will get beyond this rough patch and life will slowly return to our normal routine. I look forward to our May remote meeting and speaking and seeing you all.
