We just recently celebrated the 100th birthday of Pope Saint John Paul ll, who was obviously a great saint. A passage from one of the Night Prayer Psalms says “10,000 people fell on my right and 1,000 fell on my left, but you have kept me safe O God”. These words can certainly be said about John Paul as people were slaughtered about him by the Nazi’s and Communists, but he survived. Although, he did get hit by a truck and left for dead by the side of the road. But we are never in a position to judge intentions or sanctity. John Paul talked about a person who taught him to pray — a tailor — who never went out to make a big career in his life, but he said a prayer with every stitch that he took. I offer you something to ponder and pray about. Whom do you think was the greater saint — John Paul, or this humble tailor who taught him to pray? By Dennis Dubro
